陈英

Chen Ying (b. 1982) is adept at using the form of commercial advertising as metaphor in his practice, demonstrating the diversity of image dissemination methods. Addressing various characteristics of the internet economy, he delineates the complex relationship between identity and branding, refusing to let algorithms produce advertisements. As a founding member of the young generation art collective Slime Engine, Chen Ying has grown and created alongside fellow artists of his generation, living within digital media. Amid multiple cultures and a fast-paced life where the virtual and the real intertwine, he mutates the aura and consciousness of this generation of youth. Chen Ying received the Dior New Talent Photography and Visual Arts Award nomination in 2020, and was shortlisted for the ART POWER 100 Art Discovery Unit in 2019.
