Chen Zhe, born in Beijing, graduated from the Photography and Imaging Department of Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. Between 2007 and 2012, starting from self-destructive acts as spiritual purification, she explored the inner otherworlds of herself and others through photography. She has received the Inge Morath Award from the Magnum Foundation (2011), the Three Shadows Annual Photographer Award (2011), the Lianzhou Foto Festival New Photography Award (2011), and the Flash Forward Emerging Photographer Award (2012), among others.
