简介Biography
顾小平，1969年生于江苏扬州，先后就读于华东师范大学和南京艺术学院，现工作、生活于北京。自20世纪90年代起，他活跃于当代实验艺术的实践和创作领域，以行为、装置、摄影、录像、绘画等多媒介方式反映中国社会转型期的多种艺术面貌，不断尝试多种艺术形式表现的可能性，从中体现出他的文化态度。近十几年来，他的“墨线”系列作品运用中国传统墨斗工具，在宣纸或亚麻布上富有规则地重复弹出一条条均衡的线，这些看似精密却又偶然的色线仿佛可以无限延伸，没有边际，构成充满韵律而又节制的画面效果。
Gu Xiaoping, born in 1969 in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, studied at East China Normal University and Nanjing University of the Arts, and now lives and works in Beijing. Since the 1990s, he has been active in the practice and creation of contemporary experimental art, using performance, installation, photography, video, painting and other multimedia approaches to reflect the diverse artistic visages of China’s social transformation, constantly exploring the expressive possibilities of various art forms and thereby embodying his cultural stance. Over the past decade or so, his Ink Line series has employed the traditional Chinese carpenter’s ink marker to repeatedly and methodically snap evenly measured lines onto xuan paper or linen canvas; these seemingly precise yet fortuitous colored lines appear to extend infinitely, without boundaries, producing a composition that is at once rhythmic and restrained.
