Hongrui Henry Liu is a cross-media artist based in London. His practice takes fragmented urban experience as a point of departure, interweaving architectural, landscape, and bodily elements into a psychologized field through spatial structures of superimposition, differentiation, and proliferation. Employing a loose and generative painterly language, he reconstructs the connections between individual, space, and memory within cross-cultural flows and an existentialist perspective. From March 13 to April 14, 2026, Hive Center for Contemporary Art presented his first solo exhibition in China, “In Drift” (浪游者), at the Hive Becoming Shanghai space. As the sixty-first exhibition of the Hive Becoming (HBP) project, the exhibition featured over ten of the artist’s most recent paintings.
