简介Biography
孙子垚，1987年生于辽宁大连，现居北京。2014年毕业于中央美术学院中国画材料与保存修复专业胡伟工作室，获硕士学位。其创作实践以综合性材料绘画展开，描绘他在行走中目遇的风景，以此深入探寻自己以及人和外部世界的关系。重要个展包括：2015年北京798上空间个展《殇》、2016年澳大利亚悉尼朱雀画廊个展《始·墨》、2017年上海璘宝轩画廊个展《空空如也》及上海慈艺画廊个展《镜与境》。重要联展有：2016年参加国家画院青年艺术家邀请展《写意中国》、2017年参加万营艺术空间《青年水墨年鉴》等。作品被中央美术学院美术馆、华谊艺术、香港当代美术馆等机构及国内外藏家收藏。
Sun Ziyao, born in 1987 in Dalian, Liaoning, currently lives in Beijing. In 2014, he graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Chinese Painting Materials and Conservation Restoration, Hu Wei Studio, with a master's degree. His creative practice unfolds through mixed-media painting, depicting the landscapes he encounters during his journeys, thereby delving deeply into his own self and the relationship between humans and the external world. Important solo exhibitions include: "殇 (Shāng)" at Shang Space, 798, Beijing in 2015; "始·墨 (Shǐ Mò)" at Vermilion Gallery, Sydney, Australia in 2016; "空空如也 (Kōngkōng rú yě)" at Lin Bao Xuan Gallery, Shanghai in 2017; and "镜与境 (Jìng yǔ Jìng)" at Ciyi Gallery, Shanghai in 2017. Important group exhibitions include: participation in the National Academy of Painting Young Artists Invitational Exhibition "写意中国 (Xiěyì Zhōngguó)" in 2016, and participation in "青年水墨年鉴 (Qīngnián shuǐmò niánjiàn)" at Wanying Art Space in 2017, among others. His works are collected by the CAFA Art Museum, Huayi Art, Hong Kong Museum of Contemporary Art, and other institutions as well as domestic and international collectors.

Sun Ziyao (b. 1987, Dalian, Liaoning) works primarily with mixed media on paper, often using raw rice paper, ink, and water-based pigments. His creative style centers on capturing landscapes encountered during his travels, transforming these scenes into meditative investigations of the self and its relationship with the external world. Through layered, expressive brushwork and the inherent materiality of his chosen supports, his paintings oscillate between abstraction and recognisable natural forms, reflecting on themes of homeland, ecology, urban views, and the fleeting encounter with landscape.
Representative works include *Peach Blossom Season* (2018), *Praying for You* (2024), *That Day’s Sunset* (2024), *Deep Autumn* (2024), *Hoh Xil No. 2* (2021), and *After Sunset* (2024). These pieces exemplify his ongoing dialogue with nature and memory, balancing poetic immediacy with a quiet, introspective tension.
