杨茂源，1966年生于中国大连市，1989年毕业于中央美术学院版画系，同年参加中国现代艺术大展，2002年获CCAA中国当代艺术奖，现工作生活于北京。其作品涉及绘画、雕塑、装置、摄影等不同媒介，善于将中国文化与哲学的历史遗存作为创作灵感来源，作品通常是对文化根源与生命内涵的表述，他感兴趣的问题是艺术如何产生与时代对应的精神力量以及如何把这种精神力量通过自己的方式传达出去。重要展览包括：1994年随北京电视台先后两次进入塔克拉玛干沙漠和罗布泊考察和拍摄纪录片，并创作荒原雕刻系列《家族》与《路标》；2011年作为代表艺术家参加第54届威尼斯双年展中国馆展览；个展曾在波兰华沙国立美术馆、巴黎蓬皮杜中心、德累斯顿艺术中心、今日美术馆、马丁-格罗皮乌斯博物馆、鄂尔多斯美术馆、帕多瓦VILLA BREDA博物馆、美第奇·里卡尔第宫殿等机构举办。
Yang Mao Yuan was born in 1966 in Dalian, China. He graduated from the Printmaking Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1989. In the same year, he participated in the China Avant-Garde Exhibition. He received the CCAA Chinese Contemporary Art Award in 2002. He currently works and lives in Beijing. His works encompass various media, including painting, sculpture, installation, and photography. He adeptly draws on the historical remnants of Chinese culture and philosophy as sources of creative inspiration. His works often express cultural roots and the inner meaning of life. He is interested in questions of how art generates spiritual power that corresponds to its era and how to convey that spiritual power through his own means.
Significant exhibitions include: In 1994, he accompanied Beijing Television on two expeditions into the Taklamakan Desert and Lop Nur to conduct research and film documentaries, during which he created the wilderness sculpture series *Family* and *Landmark*. In 2011, he participated as a representative artist in the Chinese Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale. Solo exhibitions have been held at institutions including the National Museum in Warsaw, Poland; the Centre Pompidou, Paris; the Dresden Art Center; Today Art Museum; Martin-Gropius-Bau; Ordos Art Museum; Villa Breda Museum, Padua; and Palazzo Medici Riccardi.

Yang Mao Yuan (born 1966) is a Chinese contemporary artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture, installation, photography, and mixed media.
