Zi Peng (b. 1982) is a Chinese contemporary and trendy artist based in Suzhou. His work is defined by a consistent and highly recognizable creative style: he uses "jade" as his core artistic medium, building a unique visual language that bridges tradition and pop culture, hardness and softness, permanence and transience. By fusing Eastern jade aesthetics with contemporary visual tropes, he constructs surreal compositions that appear as warm, translucent jadeite from a distance, yet reveal intricate painted narratives upon closer inspection. The smooth, carved-like exterior of his forms encases a richly layered inner world of images, often drawn from classical Chinese art, mythology, or playful contemporary icons.
